Mohamad Hmede is an experienced sports educator with over 27 years of experience as a PE teacher, alongside an even longer career as a football player and coach that began before his teaching career and continues to this day. Since 2015, he has been dedicated in Berlin to the sporting development and integration of refugee children and young people.

Youth and senior player at the well-known Syrian first-division club Al-Hurriya SC Aleppo.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, he moved directly into coaching and received internal coaching training at the club.
Arrival in Germany
Since 2015, he has lived in Berlin and continues his coaching career actively. He has coached at SV Sparta Lichtenberg and Berliner AK (BAK), continuing to develop youth talents in Berlin.
Coach for Refugee Teams
Led teams in Tempelhof and successfully built children's, youth and senior teams. His career as a player and coach began before his teaching career and continues to this day.

Tournament Victories
Winner of the Berlin Shield for men's amateur teams across various divisions, as well as tournament victories in the men's and youth categories.
Anti-Racism Engagement
Under the patronage of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior, a children's tournament against racism was held with the participation of many professional clubs — and we won the tournament.

Glimpses of Our Academy
A Special Moment
An unforgettable moment: during an official visit to the former refugee camp in Tempelhof, I happened to meet Ursula von der Leyen, then Federal Minister of Defence and current President of the European Commission.
She visited the camp to personally learn about the situation of the refugees. At the time, I was working as a football coach, leading teams for refugees – sport as a bridge to integration.
Ms von der Leyen personally thanked me for my efforts in integrating refugees through football. I took the opportunity, on behalf of all refugees, to thank her for Germany's welcome and warm reception. Our conversation was translated by an Arabic interpreter working at Tempelhof camp – a moment that continues to inspire my work to this day.
