Mohamad Hmede is an experienced sports educator and former professional footballer with over 25 years of professional experience. Since 2015, he has been dedicated in Berlin to the sporting development and integration of refugee children and young people.

After retiring as a player, he moved directly into coaching and received internal coaching training at the club.
Arrival in Germany
Since 2015, he has lived in Berlin and works to integrate refugees through football.
Coach for Refugee Teams
Led teams in Tempelhof and successfully built children's, youth and senior teams that participated in several Berlin tournaments.

Glimpses of Our Academy
A Special Moment
An unforgettable moment: during an official visit to the former refugee camp in Tempelhof, I happened to meet Ursula von der Leyen, then Federal Minister of Defence and current President of the European Commission.
She visited the camp to personally learn about the situation of the refugees. At the time, I was working as a football coach, leading teams for refugees – sport as a bridge to integration.
Ms von der Leyen personally thanked me for my efforts in integrating refugees through football. I took the opportunity, on behalf of all refugees, to thank her for Germany's welcome and warm reception. Our conversation was translated by an Arabic interpreter working at Tempelhof camp – a moment that continues to inspire my work to this day.
